Houston web design in brief

How a Houston website wins the estimate

Lithium Marketing builds Houston contractors a WordPress site arranged around their own jobs, so a visitor on a phone sees the work first and finds the phone number without hunting. Houston’s housing has a median build year of 1982, so your customers live in everything from older homes to recent construction, and your gallery should show both.

Houston is the largest U.S. city without formal zoning, and when it cut its minimum lot size from 5,000 to 3,500 square feet in 1998, housing construction took off. Add the townhouse developments inside the Loop, and a Houston contractor may price a townhouse one day and a detached house the next, so the site should say which property types you take and show a job from each.

Houston homes and owners

Rentals, flood risk and what your Houston site should cover

Owners live in 42.1% of Houston’s occupied homes, so most are rented, and a good share of your calls may come from landlords and property managers. Give them a page of their own that explains how you handle tenant access, billing the owner and repeat work across several properties.

Many parts of Houston carry a high risk of localized flooding. If you repair water damage, roofs or drywall, give storm and flood work its own page with before-and-after photos from real jobs, so the page is already live and indexed if a storm sends people searching.

Builders, site work and painters

Websites for Harris County’s project and finish trades

Harris County has 729 new home builders and 233 excavation and site preparation contractors. A builder’s site should show the communities and lot sizes it builds on, and a site-prep contractor’s should list its equipment and the job sizes it takes, with a bid form that asks for the address and acreage.

Painting contractors are one of the smaller groups on the chart, with 193 in the county. A painter’s site earns trust with room-by-room before-and-after photos, the products used on each job and a quote form that asks how many rooms need work.

Kickoff to launch

From kickoff to launch on a Houston site

A typical build has two sign-offs from you: one on the design and one before launch.

1

Plan the pages around your jobs

We map one page per service and per area you want work from, so the site matches the jobs you are trying to win.

2

Review designs with your photos in place

You see the phone layout first, then desktop, each with your own job photos already in place.

3

Build on WordPress with tracking

The site goes up on WordPress with GA4, call tracking and schema built in, and nothing launches until a test call and a test form have both come through.

4

Protect rankings at launch

Before the switch, we map each old address that earns traffic to its replacement; after it, Search Console gets checked for errors until things settle.

Houston website questions, from budget to launch

Still curious?

Call (503) 766-5964 or email [email protected].

Will our site fit the typical $5,000 build?

Most service business sites do. The exception is a site with far more pages than usual, like a home builder listing many communities. When that happens, you get a quote for the bigger build up front, and nothing starts until you agree to it.

Do we own the site and the domain?

Yes, all of it: the domain, the WordPress install and every page, photo and line of copy. They are in your business’s name from the start, so moving to another agency later would not mean starting over.

How long does a new Houston website take?

Typically six to nine weeks from kickoff to launch. The biggest variable is how quickly the photos, service list and design feedback come back, so owners who gather those early tend to launch toward the short end of that window.

Who keeps the site updated after launch?

Whoever in your office is comfortable with a computer can, since it’s WordPress, and a recorded Loom video walks them through your own site. Owners who want it off their plate add optional hosting and maintenance for $99 a month: secure hosting, daily backups, software and security updates and basic changes.

Do you write the copy, or do we?

We write it. Lithium works with every client remotely from Portland, so the copy comes from a video interview with you, your service list and photos from real jobs. You review every page before launch and can change anything that doesn’t sound like your company.
