Austin websites, explained

What an Austin contractor’s website has to prove

Austin’s housing comes in two very different ages: 28.3% of homes were built before 1980, and 26.3% went up in 2010 or later. A contractor’s site in Austin has to show both kinds of work, the repair in an older house and the upgrade in a newer build, with photos from your own jobs and a call button a customer can reach with a thumb. Lithium Marketing designs and builds those sites on WordPress, and you own every part of them.

Speed matters once someone lands. Lithium builds every site to Google’s Core Web Vitals targets, including main content that loads in under 2.5 seconds, so a customer standing in a flooded laundry room isn’t waiting on a spinning page.

Austin homes and ground

Austin zoning, soil and what your gallery should show

In December 2023, the Austin City Council loosened zoning to allow triplexes on lots zoned for single-family housing. If you build, remodel or wire small multi-unit projects, give that work its own gallery page and its own estimate form, so a property owner can describe a three-unit job without squeezing it into a homeowner form.

Ground conditions shape some jobs too. Some of Austin’s clays have pronounced shrink-swell properties, and the hills to the west are primarily limestone rock with a thin covering of topsoil. If your work depends on the soil, as a landscaper’s or a pool builder’s can, label each project photo with the part of town and what you dealt with, so a customer with the same conditions recognizes the job.

Travis County’s trades

What a landscaper’s site shows that a plumber’s doesn’t

Travis County has 362 landscaping companies, so a landscaper’s homepage should open on finished yards from your own jobs, each labeled with the neighborhood and what was installed. The county’s 117 painting contractors face the same test: split the gallery into interior, exterior and cabinet work, so a customer finds the job they have in mind.

A repair call is different. When someone’s AC quits in July, the first screen of an HVAC or plumbing site should hold a phone button, the hours you answer and the parts of Austin you reach, with the project gallery further down.

Six to nine weeks

From kickoff to launch on an Austin website

You see and approve the design, the copy and the working forms before anything goes live.

1

Sort your photos into jobs

We go through your photos with you and group them by job type and neighborhood, so each service page gets pictures that match it.

2

Write the pages with you

Lithium writes the copy for each service and area page from a kickoff call, and you mark up anything that doesn’t sound like your company.

3

Check it on a real phone

Designs come to you as mobile and desktop mockups; once built, every call button, form and tracking tag gets tested on phones.

4

Go live and learn the editor

On launch day your domain points at the new site. Then a private Loom video, recorded on your own site, shows you how to post a finished job.

What every Lithium website includes

The same eight parts go into every website build, wherever the business is.

Robinson Restoration: a Lithium website with SEO behind it

Robinson Restoration, a restoration company, had Lithium build its website and run its SEO, and the organic traffic on its card is the SEO side of that work. Lithium also updated the website and SEO for Rickabaugh Construction, and Marc Rickabaugh’s words about that work are quoted beside the card.

Is $5,000 the real price for an Austin contractor’s website?

For about 90% of builds, $5,000 is the price. It climbs only with the size of the build: a site with many more pages than a typical service business needs gets its own fixed quote, so you know the cost before work starts.

Who owns the domain, hosting and site when it’s done?

You do, all of it. Lithium sets everything up in accounts registered to your business: the domain, the hosting, the WordPress install and the content. If you part ways with us, there is nothing to hand back, because it was never ours.

How long does an Austin website take to build?

Six to nine weeks from kickoff to launch for a typical build. Most of that time goes to design, writing and testing, and the schedule holds best when your photos and page reviews come back within a few days of each request.

Do you offer hosting and upkeep after launch?

Yes, as an option. For $99 a month, Lithium provides secure private hosting on a high-speed server, daily backups, software and security updates and basic changes. You don’t have to take it; the site is yours to host anywhere you like.

What happens to the pages Google already ranks when you rebuild?

They carry over to the new site through redirects. Before launch we list every old address that earns traffic or links and point each one at its new page, and after launch we check Search Console for errors. Rankings can wobble during any rebuild; the redirect map is there to limit it.
